The First of Many

Today I realized that its been just over 3 months since I left Austin for Alaska. Before leaving I assured most of those closest to me that I would start a blog as a way for us all to stay in touch. Well, better late than never right?? So now it exists and (with a little luck) I will regularly post where I am and what exactly I am up to. As most of you probably know, I am not the best with staying on top of these kinds of things- something to do with my inclination to procrastinate I think- so, to help, I plan on using this blog as a sort of introduction into travel writing. Perhaps someday this blog will be compiled into my first adventure novel. If there's one thing I have learned from the adventure so far, it's to keep following your dreams.

For me the hardest part of creating this blog was coming up with a title. If it were not for this obstacle, the blog would have been out a couple days earlier. Maybe that's just me over-thinking things but, in my opinion, a blog title is not to be taken lightly. That said, The Experiment of Life is a reference to a quote by HDT: "How could youths better learn than by at once trying the experiment of living?" After mulling over ideas for a title and much internet browsing, this quote jumped out at me. Isn't it so true that life is just a big experiment? No one really has it figured out and there is no "rule book" so you just have to get out there and LIVE IT! Try new things and find what works for you.  It's simple really- learn by doing. This is an idea that is fairly new to me but one that has hit home. I hope it resonates with you as well!
